64. Keuruu–Multia cross-country skiing trip (cancelled) The children’s cross-country skiing trip will take place on Saturday 28 February 2026
A cross-country skiing weekend in Keuruu is an active leisure enthusiast’s dream, whether you’re a family person, someone who enjoys relaxing in peace and quiet, a keen sports enthusiast, or someone who enjoys other activities. During the final weekend of the ski holiday (week 9), there is something for everyone in Keuruu and Multia. Although our major traditional event, the cross-country skiing trip and skiing, takes centre stage, there is so much to do that even a lack of snow won’t put a damper on the fun.
Contents of this page
The cross-country ski tour follows a beautiful route between Keuruu and Multia through the forest landscapes of Central Finland, organised on a public cross-country skiing basis. The total length of the route is approximately 50 km there and back. The route partly follows the same path and joins at the same points in places, so shorter routes are also available, starting from 5 km. To ensure our cross-country ski trail serves skiers as well as possible, the route will be skied using the skating style only on Saturday and the classic style on Sunday. There are also other trails in Keuruu and Multia where both styles can be skied on both days. There are good service points at the start and finish of the route. In Multia, there is the new Sinervä School and fitness centre, and in Keuruu, a magnificent indoor swimming pool. At the top of this page, you will find information on the children’s ski tours, followed by details of the Keuruu–Multia ski tour and its services. At the bottom of the page, you will find information on supporting programmes, accommodation and dining options.

Map and route
The main cross-country skiing route runs between Multia and Keuruu, covering a total distance of 50 km there and back. The route partly follows the same path and partly takes different routes, so there are also opportunities for shorter trips. The scenery consists of beautiful Central Finnish woodland and farmland, as well as a few river crossings. There is a fairly steep, continuous climb immediately after setting off from Multia, but after that the route is mostly downhill towards Keuruu. There are signs along the trail wa
ing of steep descents and road crossings. You should be careful at wa
ing signs and also watch out for other skiers. The tracks on the main cross-country route were groomed on Saturday for skating only and on Sunday for classic skiing. This ensures the tracks remain in good condition, albeit with slightly narrower lanes in places. Over the weekend, all other tracks in Keuruu and Multia are open to the public for cross-country skiing, allowing the trail tour to be completed in either style.
Erkki Virkalahti is responsible for the route. Tel: 0400 645088
