Waterways and buildings are most clearly visible from the Riihon and Haapamäki areas within a radius of approximately 10 km. Further out on the horizon, which extends for around 30–40 km in all directions, one can see, for example, the Ähtäri TV mast and around 50 other masts.
Himmaan Huippu is an absolutely brilliant birdwatching tower. It is situated, for example, on the crane migration route between Hanko and Oulu.
The observation tower is located on Himmaanmäki, along the Haapamäki–Ruovesi main road (1.5 km along a gravel track), at Matkalantie 159, 42820 Riiho. Signposted from the Haapamäki–Ruovesi road.
The observation tower is a public facility owned by the Riihon Village Association. The tower is open to everyone free of charge, at their own risk, all year round. No winter maintenance is carried out.
During the tourist season, the Riihon Village Association runs the To i Cafe in Himmaa, where you can buy coffee, homemade pastries, ice cream and more. Please note: The To i Cafe only accepts cash.
The area also features a campfire site, a large hut (for around 60 people) and a nature trail.

A nature trail, approximately 600 metres long and suitable for children, winds its way through the area, featuring fun activities. The trail has very few changes in elevation and is lined with varied mixed woodland. One of the trail’s special features is, for example, a ‘feeding station for insects’. The observation tower is ideal for birdwatchers. There are also two separate birdwatching towers near the main tower.
