Keuruu Church

Kippavuori Chapel is the spacious, light-filled and functional main church of the Keuruu parish, making it an ideal venue for hosting even large celebrations.

Information about this attraction

The church (1892) is a long church with a short transept; at its northe end is a lower, narrower chancel, with the sacristy situated behind it. At the front stands a four-storey bell tower with a high spire. The interior of the church has three naves.

The altarpieces in the red-brick, Neo-Gothic church were painted by the artist Eero Jä efelt (1863–1937) between 1889 and 1892.

The fourth church of the Keuruu parish was built on Kippavuorenmäki, near the old church, in 1892.
The site took its name from the spring upon which the church’s altar was built.

The new church was built as a brick church in the Neo-Gothic style with a south tower. The foundations are made of grey granite. The chairman of the church building committee was the factory owner G. A. Serlachius.

The interior of the church feels spacious and cathedral-like. The small side aisles give the nave a cruciform layout. At the north end of the three-aisled nave is a vaulted chancel containing a Neo-Gothic altarpiece.
