Kivelä Outdoor Recreation Area
There are two routes to choose from in Kivelä. A popular, fairly easy route.
- You can find all the ski trails and maintenance information on the Keuruu trail map at https://keuruu.maps.zoneatlas.net/talvi
- Cross-country and classic skiing, floodlit
- Priority 1
- Starting point: Kelloniemen tie 17
- Direction of rotation: anti-clockwise
- Route length: 4.6 km fitness trail (floodlit) and 8 km Mahlakorpi loop
- Route description: A well-lit, fairly easy route with a gravel surface. The descents are straight and fairly gentle, the ascents are gentle, apart from a few metres of possible branching ascents. The Mahlakorven loop is fairly easy, a path-like route in summer. From the hut, there is a fast descent; at the end, it curves to run parallel to the road and crosses it.
- Map:
- Download the GPX file for the 4.6 km route (open on a mobile device that already has a map app, e.g. Origo Maps)
- Rest areas and facilities: Along the Mahlakorvenlenkki route, there is a shelter and a campfire site with firewood. There is an outdoor toilet. The campfire site at Häntämäki is located up the hill from the car park, following the path towards the fitness trail and the mast.
- Connections to other trails: Trail connection to the town centre across the lake. In weeks 6–9, the Jukojärvi loop, the Harmaakorpi loop and the Keuruu–Multia trail are open.
- Other sights: Murron Stone, Keuruu’s largest erratic boulder.
