The Old Cemetery at Pihlajavesi

The cemetery is located in the Könttär (Kolehman) area, which was donated in 1871 by Herman Rekola, the owner of the Rekola estate.

There is a Gallen Trail in Pihlajavesi, which features a wealth of different natural and cultural attractions. Some of these attractions are only open during the summer.

Keuruu railway station

The railway finally reached Keuruu when the Jyväskylä line was completed in 1897. Previously, Keuruu station had been located in Haapamäki.

The Wilderness Church at Pihlajavesi

The church was built in 1780 using resources from ten houses and four crofts. Matti Åkerblom acted as the architect and builder.

As the old church in Pihlajavesi – known as the Erämaa Church – became too small due to population growth, plans were drawn up to build a new church.
