Cultural Education Plan: Cultural Steps

‘Cultural Steps’ is the cultural education plan for early years education and primary education in Keuruu.

The aim of the Cultural Steps programme is to offer all children and young people equal opportunities to discover and engage with local culture, cultural heritage and various art forms. The programme brings together guided tours, workshops, performances, visits to cultural heritage sites and other cultural and artistic activities organised throughout the school year for different age groups.

Every child and young person in early childhood education and basic education has the opportunity to take part in the activities offered by Kulttuuriportaat at least once per school year.

The first version of the Cultural Ladder was drawn up in 2013 as part of the Kulttuurimajakka project. The plan is updated annually and forms part of the early years education action plan and the schools’ academic year plans.

Keuruu is part of the regional children’s cultural centre Kulttuuriaitta and, through it, the national network of children’s cultural centres. Membership of Kulttuuriaitta also enables Kulttuuriportaat to offer forms of art and culture that are not produced locally.
