    Fitness steps

Stair training is an effective and versatile way to build leg muscles in particular. You can even tu stair training into rocket science. To get started, simply walk up and down the stairs at different speeds, step by step, taking longer strides or hopping from step to step.

Particular consideration has been given to older residents living in the immediate vicinity, ensuring that the steps are not too high and that the staircase is fitted with a sturdy handrail. The lighting extends the usable hours of the staircase and enhances safety. The Sports and Leisure Department is responsible for maintenance. There is no winter maintenance for the staircase.

The steps do not have an official address, but Kurkilahdentie 11 is located at the top of the steps. You can get there by bike or on foot. Car parking is available at Wegeliuksentie 7, i.e. the Kurkisaari car park. From there, it is about a 100-metre walk along the Kurkilahden rantatie to the bottom of the steps.

PopPankki celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2018. When planning the celebrations, PopPankki wanted to mark the occasion in a way that would benefit the people of Keuruu as widely and sustainably as possible. The bank contacted the sports department, and a common goal and collaboration were found very quickly, as fitness steps had been requested for Keuruu for a few years, and they were also on the bank’s mind. Poppankki donated the building materials for the fitness steps, whilst the sports department designed and built the steps and funded the lighting.
