    Mäntäntie 128. Right on the edge of the town centre.

    2. Kiviniemi (19 ha)

    Haapamäentie 329 (car park) or 237. Just west of the town centre.

    3. Garrison forests (167 ha)

    Kolhontie 536 and many other parking spaces. About five kilometres south of the town centre. Part of the area can also be explored via the ski trails in the sports park.

    A diverse range of old-growth forests in separate areas: shores, heathland, deciduous woodland, rocky outcrops, streams and wild forests. Rich in wildlife, including the red-breasted flycatcher and the flying squirrel. The forests in the northe part are rugged wilde ess, the area around the former military base is lush in many places, and Peurunniemi offers magnificent views of Lake Keurusselkä.     Alkulantie 100 or Ähtärintie 113. An old spruce forest with

    6. Päijänteenmäki (22 ha)

    Hirvontie 226, then onto the forest track. The forest track is not always passable.

    7. Pihlaiskoski (71 ha)

    Kokinmäentie 242, then tu left onto the forest track. The
    fast-flowing rapids in the middle of the wild spruce forest are particularly popular with anglers. There is a hut and a shelter, both with campfire sites and outdoor toilets. There are footpaths.     Keuruu’s largest open bog can be seen from the road. A wide variety of birds nest in the wet bog. Species include the little crake, the common snipe, the willow grouse and gulls.     11. KOIRAKALLIO (25 ha)

    Multiantie 1020, halfway between Keuruu and Multia. An

    12. LUSIKKALAHTI (17 ha)

    Merraslahdentie 120 (Loilantie 119, at the junction with Merraslahdentie). In Riihos.

    13. KIVISUO (17 ha)

    Talvisalontie 23, from where there is an 800-metre path to the area. A small

    Havuniementie 226. An

    15. HUHKOJÄRVI (87 ha)

    Huhkojärventie 301, Jämsä.

    16. AHTAANSALMI (20 ha)


    Koipikankaantie 1661, then onto the forest track.

    17. PÖYHÖLÄNPURO (3 ha)


    Kisakaarteentie 31.
