Art School
Keuruu Adult Education Centre provides basic art education in visual arts in accordance with the national curriculum. The centre’s visual arts school has been operating in its current form since autumn 2011. There are groups in Keuruu town centre and Haapamäki, aimed at school-age children and young people.
Objectives
The art school provides goal-oriented, progressive basic art education that builds on previous years’ lea ing. Children have the opportunity to take up a long-term, enjoyable hobby. The aim of the teaching is to develop children’s powers of observation, visual expression, manual skills and appreciation of art.
At the art school, we work with a wide range of materials using various techniques: drawing, painting, printing, sculpting, etc. The joy of creating and experiencing is at the heart of what we do.
Groups
The courses are divided into preparatory courses (ages 4–6), basic courses (ages 7–12) and advanced workshop courses (ages 13–20). New students are admitted in the autumn, but you can enquire about available places at the adult education centre’s office throughout the year.
Curriculum
The Keuruu Adult Education Committee approved the curriculum for basic education in the arts on 20 September 2018 (item 30).
