    Adult Education Centre’s courses

The courses are open to everyone, so you can take part regardless of where you live. On the study programme website, you can filter the selection by location and topic, or browse the entire range of courses.

The printed course catalogue is published in August each autumn. The catalogue will be available for collection from local libraries and possibly other municipal distribution points.

    Printed study programme

The printed study guide for the 2026–2027 academic year will be available for collection from libraries and municipal offices in Keuruu, Haapamäki, Multia and Petäjävesi from early August. Additional collection points are available at Keuruu museum in Keuruu (addr. Keskusaukio 3) and Heinähattu in Petäjävesi (addr. Siltatie 3).

Information about new courses and changes to the programme may be published not only on the centre’s own study programme pages (opistopalvelut.fi) but also in the Suur-Keuruu and Petäjävesi newspapers.

    Course materials and supplies

Students are responsible for purchasing their own books, course materials and supplies.

    Study sertificate

You can request a certificate of attendance. A certificate of attendance costs 5 euros for the current academic year and 22 euros for previous academic years.

    Course registration

As a general rule, you must register for courses in advance. This is specified for each group. The registration period is stated separately for each course.

In the academic year 2026-2027, registration for courses in the fall semester and the entire academic year begins on August 19, 2026 at 9 a.m. and for courses in the spring semester on November 16, 2026 at 9 a.m. You can register online for some courses, including most language courses, starting on August 1.

If there is no mention of advance registration for a particular group, you should register directly with the teacher on the first day of the course.

There are two options for registration:

The groups will not run if there are not enough people who have pre-registered.

    Cancellation of registration

If you are unable to attend the course, you must cancel your registration five days before the course begins. You can cancel a course:

    Registration and course fees

By registering, you agree to pay the course fee. We will invoice you for the course fee based on your registration. If you are unable to attend the course, please remember to cancel your registration at least 5 days before the course starts. A place on the course is always personal; you cannot transfer your place to a family member, for example.

    A free trial session

You can attend a long-term course – lasting a whole term or academic year – free of charge on one occasion, namely the first session of the course.

Please note! If you decide not to attend the course after the trial session, you must cancel your place yourself at the centre office within one week (7 days). If you do not notify us of your withdrawal, you will receive a payment link or an invoice for the course, which you will be required to pay. For all courses, a payment link or invoice will be sent to those who are registered for the course at the time of invoicing.

Points to note about free trial session

If you are unable to attend the first session of a long-term course but would like to visit the course for free at a later date, please register for the course no earlier than one week before your visit. If you wish to cancel your place on the course after your visit, please follow the instructions above.

For shorter courses, there is no free trial session, and payment links or invoices will be sent out to those who have not cancelled the course in time.

    Start of the course

The course will only go ahead if enough students have enrolled by the end of the registration period. Once the course begins as previously announced, no reminders or further information regarding the start of the course will be sent to those who have enrolled prior to the course starting. The centre will only contact you if the course is cancelled, the start time changes, or you
have been offered a place from the waiting list.

After the first session of the course, if there are so many cancellations within 7 days because of the free trial session, that there is not the minimum number of students left anymore for the course, the course will be cancelled.
