Municipal early years education

There are two nurseries in Keuruu’s municipal early years education system: Aurinkolinna and Haapamäki Nursery. The nurseries provide early years education and pre-school education, supporting children’s development and meeting their everyday needs. Aurinkolinna also operates a 24/7 early childhood education group that provides care due to parents’ shift work schedules.

Aurinkolinna Nursery

Aurinkolinna Nursery

Aurinkolinna has eleven nursery groups and places for around 160 children. The building was completed at the end of 2015, and the nursery moved in during the winter half-term in 2016. The building has two floors, with nursery groups operating on both floors.

Pre-school groups:

Communal areas and grounds

We have communal facilities and mode technology:

The outdoor area offers opportunities for exercise and play:

Location and transport

The nursery is centrally located. Schools, the swimming hall and sports fields are all within walking distance. The groups of children explore the local area and make use of both indoor and outdoor spaces. The children also get to know children from other groups through their daily activities.

Learning and support

Functional and comfortable facilities support learning. Mode technology is part of everyday life, and the playground and sports facilities encourage children to be active. Nature is also easily accessible on foot.

Each child’s development is supported by their own group and, where necessary, by a special needs teacher in early years education, who works in collaboration with the staff.

Shift care at Aurinkolinna

Shift care refers to early years education and care provided in the evenings, at night, at weekends, and on weekdays and public holidays. It is intended for families where the carers work shifts or study outside normal working hours.

The Niittyvillat group at Aurinkolinna offers round-the-clock care as required. Shift care can also be booked for public holidays, but only where there is a genuine need. Bookings are based, for example, on a work rota or other reliable documentation.

Appointments are booked via DaisyFamily in three-week blocks, and in the event of any changes, the child’s best interests are prioritised.

Who is eligible for shift care?

Principles of shift-based care

Shift care is goal-oriented and structured, regardless of the time of day. The child’s wellbeing and individual attention are at the heart of our work. The importance of adult supervision is particularly emphasised at night and at weekends. The service is guided by a homely atmosphere, and public holidays and the children’s own wishes are taken into account in the daily routine.

The Niittyvillat group is characterised by flexibility, creative staff and an open working culture. Cooperation with carers plays a key role in supporting the child’s wellbeing. In shift care, cooperation with carers is important for supporting the child’s wellbeing.

Haapamäki Nursery

Haapamäki Nursery

Haapamäki Nursery is housed in a former primary school building, which was built in 1901 and is located in the centre of Haapamäki.

The nursery has three groups:

Pre-school education is provided in the pre-school facilities at Haapamäki Comprehensive School.

The nursery is small and cosy. The spacious outdoor areas are equipped with a wide range of play and exercise equipment, and there is a large sports hall in the adjacent building. Ice skating and cross-country skiing are available on the nearby field. Excursions are organised regularly, and the local natural environment serves as a lea ing environment.
