Guidance for applicants wishing to study an instrument

• The spring student intake is open from 13 April to 17 May 2026. After this period, you can use the form to apply for places on the waiting list. Applications can be made via the online form or by calling the office on 040 178 4085. 
• Please note: Late applications submitted during the 2025–26 academic year will no longer be valid for the next academic year, so please submit a new application if you wish to keep your application active.
• The applicant must be a resident of Keuruu, Multia or Petäjävesi.
• When applying, applicants may select their top three preferred instruments, ranked 1–3.

Selection criteria for trainee instrumentalists

• Applicants will be placed on a waiting list based on the instruments they have chosen, their age and their previous musical experience. When registering, you should provide details of any previous musical activities. If several applicants register for the same instrument, the order in which they registered will also be taken into account.
• There are usually fewer applicants for the rarer instruments (such as brass instruments and the larger string instruments), so it is easier to get a place on these courses.
• Around 10–20 new pupils are admitted each year. The number depends on the number of places becoming available at the various branches and for the different instruments. Teacher availability also affects the number of places available for different instruments.

You can use this form to sign up for the various music playschool groups and dance groups.

You can use this form to register for the wind orchestra, the music school band or vocal ensemble.
