Keuruu acts as the municipality responsible for managing farm relief services for farmers and fur producers across almost the entire region of Central Finland.

Keuruu Local Unit
The Keuruu local unit comprises the municipalities of Hankasalmi, Kannonkoski, Karstula, Kinnula, Kivijärvi, Konnevesi, Kyyjärvi, Laukaa, Multia, Muurame, Petäjävesi, Pihtipudas and Uurainen, as well as the towns of Jyväskylä, Jämsä, Keuruu, Mänttä-Vilppula, Saarijärvi, Viitasaari and Äänekoski. The service covers approximately 500 farmers and around 360 farms. The unit’s workforce consists of approximately 70 permanent agricultural relief workers, as well as temporary agricultural relief workers as required. Services are purchased from approximately twenty self-employed individuals or companies. Seven people work permanently in administration.
The main office of the Farm Relief Service is located at Keuruu Town Hall; visits are by appointment only, Monday to Friday, 9am–3pm. Customer enquiries regarding the Farm Relief Service can be made by calling 040 640 4692; the service is available on weekdays from 10am to 2pm. The applications and attachments below can be submitted electronically to the farm relief services via the links provided.
On Lomitusnet, you can submit requests for farm relief services and applications.
Applications for a substitute must be submitted in writing before the start of the holiday in one of the following ways:
- electronically via Mela’s online service, Lomitusnet
- by email to lomitus@keuruu.fi
- by text message to the temporary support line on 040 484 2465
- traditionally on paper
When you submit your application by email or text message, the message must include the following:
- Name of the person applying for temporary care
- date of birth
- reason for substitute care (e.g. incapacity for work)
- the timing of the temporary assistance
We will contact applicants who have submitted their applications for substitute teaching positions by email or text message to request further information by telephone, in accordance with Mela’s guidelines.
You can submit an application for farm relief services yourself or through a person authorised by power of atto ey on your behalf. You can find the power of atto ey form for applying for farm relief services on Mela’s Forms page. The power of atto ey must be submitted in writing to the farm relief services.
